Frequently Asked Questions

Which airport is the nearest?

Our nearest airports are Innsbruck, Salzburg and Munich.   Innsbruck is just 45 minutes away, while Salzburg is 1 hour 15 minutes and Munich 1 hour 30 minutes away.

How much does the airport transfer cost?

Airport transfers usually cost between 35 and 55 euros per person each way depending on which airport you are flying to and how many people are travelling together.  Please ask us for a quote.

Will there be snow in December/March?

The SkiWelt has an excellent record for snow throughout the season and has opened by mid December for at least the last 5 years and kept the pistes open and fully maintained until the last day of the season.  It also gives a ‘snow guarantee’ for 210km of pistes.

How much does a lift pass cost?

A 6-day lift pass for the whole SkiWelt costs € 288.00 for an adult, € 316.00 for a teenager born in 2003, 2004 or 2005 and € 144.00 for a child born between 2006 and 2015.  Children born after 2016 ski for free.  For other lift pass prices, click here.

Should I take lessons?

We recommend taking ski school lessons if you have never skied before and also if you want to improve your ski technique.

How much is ski school?

Group lessons cost € 178 for 3 days, € 188 for 4 days and € 198 for 5 days.  Lessons run from 10am to 12 noon and again from 1pm to 3pm.  Children are supervised through the lunch period.  Beginners do not need to buy a lift pass for the first few days.  We can book your lessons for you when you arrive.

How much is ski hire?

6 (or 7) days ski hire costs approximately € 100 for adult skis only and € 120 for skis and boots.

Should I buy or rent skis?

If you are a beginner or intermediate skier, we recommend that you rent.  Ski technology is constantly improving and you will be given the right equipment for your level. Many experts also choose to rent as the cost of initially buying the skis, maintaining them and the airline carriage costs makes renting more flexible and usually cheaper. If you have your own skis and you stay with us each year we will happily store your skis for you until the next use.  If you have stopped growing and find a pair of boots that fit you and are comfortable, then we recommend you buy them.

What does it cost to eat on the mountain?

Austria is extremely good value for money.  The food prices on the mountain are the same as in the restaurants in the valley.  For example you can get a Spaghetti Bolognese or half a chicken and chips with a drink for about € 12.00.

How long does it take to drive to Itter from the UK?

This depends on which route you take, the time of season that you are travelling and the number of stops that you plan to make.  We estimate that it usually takes between 10-12 hours to reach Itter from Calais, however some people choose to break up their journey with an overnight stop. It’s possible to drive all the way from Calais to Wörgl on motorways.  There is a free car park at the hotel.

If we drive, will we need snowchains?

Carrying snowchains is a good idea, but it is very unlikely that you will need them as all the roads are kept clear of snow.

Can I ask for a specific room?

We have many different types of room and if you would like a particular room, just let us know.

When can we get into the room and when do we have to leave?

Generally you will be able to check in from 2pm onwards and you will be required to check out at 10am.   If you want to arrive earlier than 2pm, please let us know and we will do out best to have your room ready.  If you plan to arrive very late, we would appreciate you letting us know in advance or when you are en-route.

Do I need winter sports insurance?

It is your responsibility to ensure that you are adequately insured for your holiday. We also strongly recommend that you take a valid EHIC with you whilst travelling.  If you have an accident or need to visit the doctors you normally need to pay the doctor (sometimes in cash) and you should then claim your money back from your insurance, less the applicable excess.
