About Us

Our Philosophy

We specialize in creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for guests.  We are sure you will find us approachable, friendly and committed to excellence.

We also offer helpful advice about the area for both skiers and non-skiers to help you make the most of your time here.

We want each guest to get the most out of their stay and can help you to plan your holiday as well as book your airport transfers, ski lessons, ski hire and lift passes.

Meet The Owners

Hotel Edelweiss is run by owners Peter and Alison Neurauter.  They moved to Itter in 2005 and live at the hotel with their two grown up sons Anton and Mattias.

Peter

Peter has joint Austrian and British nationality.  He has been involved in hotel management for over 20 years and has responsibility for the hotel facilities.

He has also managed dry ski slopes in the UK and has been director of a European ski company and of UK Coaching.  Peter has a degree in Psychology, a Master’s degree in Sports Development and various management and teaching qualifications.

 Alison

Alison has worked in PR and marketing for over 20 years and has responsibility for the hotel’s marketing, administration and financial management.

She has previously worked for national and international charities as well as public and private sector organisations and has won several national awards. She has a degree in Psychology and an Advanced Professional Diploma in Public Relations.

Our Passion

Skiing is one of our passions, and as such we feel privileged to be living in such a great ski area with the opportunity to ski whenever we want.  We love skiing with guests whenever possible and we have no hesitation in recommending the SkiWelt for all levels of skiers.

Peter started learning to ski in Austria when he was just 3 years old, going on to become a ski instructor, coach and guide to the British Alpine Blind Squads for two Paralympics, and a Snowsport England Level 4 Coach and Tutor holding an International (IVSI) Licence.

He taught Alison to ski when they met nearly 40 years ago and they have been skiing together ever since.

Our Staff

Our staff come from all over Europe, and live and work with us throughout the winter season.  Each member of staff contributes to the high standards of customer care offered by Hotel Edelweiss.  They are committed to doing an excellent job both front of house and behind the scenes and make a positive contribution to the running of the hotel.

Recruitment for our winter staff starts at the end of June.

The Making of Hotel Edelweiss

Peter and Alison have extensively and sympathetically renovated the hotel since buying it in 2005, updating and upgrading all areas.

Built as a farmhouse in the 1950s, a farm shop and then a restaurant were added in the 1960s and first floor accommodation in 1974.  In 1986, the second and third floors were built and it remained a popular ‘Gasthof’ or Inn throughout the late ’80s and ’90s.

After Peter and Alison bought the hotel and developed a new style and philosophy, they gave the hotel a new name and started their renovation programme.  Every room has since been modernised, whilst maintaining many of the beautiful traditional Tirolean features that add to the ambience of the hotel.
